The Examination Board that the Catherine Beatty Drama Academy use is the Royal Irish Academy of Music(RIAM). The examinations are not compulsory, but are encouraged, and many students enter for the examinations each year. The exams range from Kindergarten Grade to Grade 8.
Congratulations to all my students, who completed exams online during the lockdown period. We are currently awaiting the results, and I will let you know when they are available.
Exam preparation was done online using one-to-one Zoom tutorials during the last term. It worked very well, as this activity does not require teamwork in the classroom. When classroom activities resume in September 2020, it is planned that exam preparation will continue to be carried out online.
Feis
The Feis Matiu is held every year in May. There is a variety of competitions that the students can participate in, e.g. Poetry, Mime, Story-telling, Solo acting, Duologues, Improvisation, and Cup-competitions for older students. Participation is encouraged, as the experience gained performing before an audience helps build self-confidence.
Congratulations to all my students who were successful in the Feis Matiu competitions held in the Mill Theatre, Dundrum, in 2019. Unfortunately, the Feis Matiu in May 2020 was postponed due to Covid-19.
